Section-II: Long Answer Questions

Note: Answer all the questions. Each question carries 10 marks (5 x 10 = 50 Marks). Internal choice is available.

9. Define and the periodic trends of i) Ionization potential ii) Atomic radii. (OR) What is electronegativity? How do you measure it by Pauling scale.

10. What is ionic bond? Explain with one example. What are the factors favouring formation of ionic compounds. (OR) Wrtie Born-Haber cycle.

11. What are the postulates of valence bond theory? Give the structures of $SF_{4}$ and $PCl_{5}$ by VBT. (OR) Construct the molecular orbital diagrams of $N_{2}$, $O_{2}$ and CO.

12. What are n-type and p-type semi conductors? Explain. (OR) Explain intra and inter molecular hydrogen bonding with one example each.

13. Explain the Pearson’s concept of acids and bases. (OR) Explain Arhenius theory and Lewis theories of acids and bases.
